Wavelength Division Multiplexing PDF Print
The increasing amount of video and data traffic being carried over networks is driving the deployment of high capacity Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks. These networks contain multiple optical channels which must be closely monitored if degradations in optical signals are to identified and corrected before they become service affecting. This function is called DWDM monitoring.

Linear InGaAs arrays or custom developed InGaAs devices can be used in DWDM monitors to monitor the optical power, wavelength, and signal to noise ratio of each channel in the DWDM system. DWDM monitoring is a hot application in the rapidly expanding telecom industry.
