Xenics was established in Belgium in 2000 as a designer and manufacturer of infrared sensors, cores and cameras.

As a commercial spin-off from IMEC, Xenics specialises in the development of SWIR InGaAs imaging detectors and cameras.

Today, Xenics is Europe’s leading supplier of SWIR imagers steadily growing internationally with sales offices worldwide.

The company retains its expertise in SWIR imagers, expanding its portfolio in the MWIR and LWIR ranges for various markets.

Our Product Lines

Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR)

The Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) part of the infrared spectrum offers unique capabilities for various applications in machine vision, R&D, medical, security, process control and transportation. SWIR imagers typically use reflected light, i.e., similar with the shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum, and are often complementary to MWIR and LWIR imagers.

Most of Xenics SWIR line-scan and area detectors are developed in-house and based on a material called InGaAs (Indium Gallium Arsenide). These detectors are sensitive in the wavelength range from 900 to 1700 nm.

Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR)

The Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) part of the infrared spectrum covers roughly the 3 to 5 µm wavelength band. MWIR cameras are typically used for thermal imaging and thermography applications in security and R&D.

Xenics offers a variety of cooled MWIR area cameras and camera cores.

Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR)

The Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) part of the infrared spectrum covers the 8 to 14 µm wavelength band. LWIR cameras are thermal imagers and typically find application in security, process control and medical markets.

Xenics LWIR cameras and camera cores are based on uncooled microbolometer detectors.
