Abstract

Infrared (IR) imaging technology provides numerous advantages over visible imaging. One common use of IR imaging is its ability to image even in low light conditions. Deployed in driver assistance systems, they increase the visibility of the driver by providing a superior depiction of the road ahead. Three spectral areas of the infrared will be described, namely near-infrared (NIR), mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and long-wave infrared (LWIR).
