Leuven, Belgium, 23 January 2009 — Xenics’ thermal imaging cameras are now available integrated with Quadrox standards-based platform of video management software. Most interesting for the demanding security market is the combination of Xenics’ new Gobi-384, an uncooled microbolometer camera covering the LWIR 8 to 14 μm, with the Quadrox video software suite. Through this systemic interconnect, Xenics and Quadrox customers are now able to order and operate complete thermal imaging solutions for security purposes.

The agreement between Xenics and Quadrox marks a decisive step forward in the worldwide adaptation of cost-efficient and application-oriented thermal imaging systems in a variety of up-to-date industrial and security environments. Xenics is the sole European provider of advanced infrared detectors and customized IR imaging solutions based on a global distribution and support network. Quadrox is a world leading developer of digital standardsbased network video management software for similar applications.

“Both our systemic approaches are an excellent fit of the two sides of the same advanced imaging concept”, says Xenics founder and CEO Bob Grietens. “I’m delighted to have achieved this synergetic cooperation with Quadrox. It marks a decisive step forward in the widespread application of thermal imaging for a variety of uses.”

“Quadrox is very pleased to be able to cooperate with Xenics”, says Luc Vancraen, General Manager of Quadrox. “Our WebCCTV™ and GuardNVR™ product families and the Xenics line of thermal imaging cameras provide a compelling combination to fulfill the needs of customers that require high-quality thermal images together with powerful and sophisticated video management solutions.”

WebCCTV NVR is a cost-effective network video solution that supports advanced functions. It introduces a new dimension of reliability and performance in an extremely user-friendly way. A turnkey solution consisting of reliable hardware, it is backed by an on-site warranty and optimally installed video management and operating system software. WebCCTV NVR supports multiple standards.

The integration into the Quadrox video management platform of Xenics thermal imaging cameras allows security integrators to deliver state-of-the-art thermal imaging solutions. Of foremost interest is the integration of the latest Xenics thermal imaging camera model Gobi, which was conceived as a costreducing, “smart” IR imaging solution. Gobi-384 delivers 384 x 288 pixels on a 25 μm pixel pitch and contains the camera head, DSP electronics and TCP/IP interface in a very compact housing of just 70 x 73 x 65 mm3.

All contents and metadata of such integrated imaging systems can be recorded and transmitted over industry-standard networks. Advanced motion analysis allows for cost-effective recording and incident optimisation and evaluation. Superior video management features that users have come to expect with regular digital video in the visual realm are now also available for thermal camera applications.

At this time, a particularly strong and growing need for thermal video use is seen in the public and corporate security sector. Other important current and future applications of Xenics thermal cameras are high-performance systems for industrial and public-service applications, as well as in automotive driver assistance and night-vision environments.
