Leuven, Belgium, 14 September 2016 — Xenics, Europe’s leading developer and manufacturer of advanced infrared detectors, cameras and customized imaging solutions from the LWIR to the visible realm, started as a spin-off company from IMEC. In the early years Xenics focused on the development and manufacturing of high end shortwave infrared cameras for demanding, exclusively scientific, end-users. More than fifteen years later Xenics is globally active in many different industries and communities with best-in-class infrared products, covering the entire infrared spectrum. Among their covered territory lay the Middle East and the entire African continent. At AAD, Xenics will demonstrate their latest infrared products in both shortwave and longwave infrared at booth # 7W6.
Worldwide sales and service network
With a worldwide sales and service network, Xenics supports end-users, system integrators and OEM customers with infrared sensors, infrared camera modules and infrared camera systems, offering simplified export procedures and high quality products. The regional sales manager at Xenics responsible for Africa and the Middle East, Piet Van Riel states: “We give every request and opportunity a very close look in order to propose the ideal infrared thermal or non-thermal solution. This includes the option of local content as part of the contract, meaning added value for the region and creation of jobs for local companies”.
Xenics’ attitude being different from its competitors and the highest level of image quality, product reliability, interface connectivity and system versatility have attracted leading manufacturers of security and defense systems. “The strategy to supply only complete systems without using local expertise might have worked for our competitors, but not for long and not for Xenics. Our infrared modules integrate seamlessly with our OEM customers’ systems and products.” Van Riel says.
The supplied, small form factor Xenics infrared modules can be equipped with two sensors: a shortwave infrared (SWIR, 0.9 – 1.7 μm) or longwave infrared (LWIR, 7.5 – 14 μm) sensor. SWIR is used to detect applied lasers, to penetrate atmospheric obstructions (fog, smog or haze), for naval reconnaissance and for low-light surveillance. LWIR is widely applied for thermal surveillance, thermal targeting and for night vision.
What can visitors of AAD 2016 expect?
Visitors of AAD 2016 will find a complete representation of the Xenics infrared product range at booth #7W6. As Xenics covers the entire infrared wavelength range, the demonstrated products are sensitive in shortwave, midwave and longwave infrared. At the booth visitors will get hands-on experience with a collection of infrared cores, cameras and systems used in the safety, security & surveillance market. Piet Van Riel, Xenics’ regional sales manager for the region, will be present together with Optronics Africa, distributor of Xenics products in South Africa.
