San Jose, California, 27 January 2009 — Xenics, Europe’s leading developer and manufacturer of advanced infrared detectors and customized imaging solutions from the LWIR to the visible realm, exhibits its latest Cheetah and Gobi cameras for highly demanding scientific applications, including spectroscopy, hyperspectral and thermal imaging. Xenics also presents its new corporate strategy for serving worldwide markets from its European home base. Photonics West, the annual launchpad event for advanced technologies is taking place from 27 to 29 January 2009 at the San Jose Convention Center.
At Photonics West 2009, Xenics demonstrates a significant segment of its advanced camera and imaging solutions in an enlarged booth, now measuring 10 x 20 sq meters. Among the technical highlights in Xenics’ large exhibit area are the new Cheetah, Cheetah CL and Gobi cameras, the XEVA and XS models, as well as the XMID product range of highly stable thermal imaging solutions for industrial temperature measurement and process control in automotive and semiconductor manufacturing – all of them directed towards the scientific markets.
Also at Photonics West 2009, Xenics presents its rigidly refocused product marketing strategy and brand identity, which has been newly grouped in Scientific, Industrial, System Integration, Security, Modules & Components and Custom Engineering segments. This will allow Xenics to better target key customers in global markets from its European home base at Leuven, Belgium, via its rapidly expanding global network of distributors, reps, and manufacturing sites.
Latest addition is Uniforce Sales and Engineering, operating out of Milpitas, California. Xenics leverages its strong scientific background and technological tie-in with the academic community to elevate analysis accuracy to a significantly higher level.
“We are broadening our presence in the worldwide markets,” Xenics founder and CEO Bob Grietens says. “In addition to our fast growing business in advanced InGaAs SWIR imagers, we are ready to enter the markets for uncooled bolometer solutions based on our extended, basic and application oriented, R&D portfolio”.
To support this broad-based expansion strategy, Xenics has recently initiated a dedicated hardware, software and service cooperation with thermography software specialist Goratec of Erding, Germany. Goratec provides its advanced software platform of IR image management solutions based on Xenics cameras. Xenics offers its NIR to MWIR cameras integrated with Goratec’s specialized thermography software packages, enabling numerous new applications of Xenics thermography options in process control such as glass inspection.
Among Xenics’ products presented at Photonics West 2009 are its proven Cheetah camera models for the NIR (near infrared) realm, which are fully software-configurable, combining the TE-cooled InGaAs FPA detector head with all control and communications circuitry in a convection-cooled housing. The new, smaller Cheetah-640CL model, without internal memory, is suited for high-speed, hyperspectral image SWIR applications as well as wavefront sensing in free space communication and vision enhancement. At a frame rate of 1,700fps at full 640 x 512 pixel resolution, Cheetah sets a world-record for InGaAs cameras. The Cheetah concept is well suited for hyperspectral imaging, which yields high spatial resolution together with high spectral resolution.
Xenics’ Gobi-384 IR thermal imaging camera offers superior performance in combination with flexible and intelligent features for most demanding scientific markets. Its high image quality lets researchers detect smallest temperature differences with a complete digital infrared camera system that is easy to use. As a distinctive feature, Gobi-384 integrates an on-board digital signal processor (DSP) for intelligent real-time image processing.
Xenics develops and delivers a broad product portfolio of advanced IR cameras and imaging systems. Xenics is the sole European-based provider of such advanced IR technology, offering flexible product design, customer orientation, strict dedication to quality, ISO certification, and vertical integration with technology partners for hard- and software IR imaging solutions.
